Portrait of Mohamed Talaye

Profile

I look for what comes next. Then I build it.

I think a long way ahead, and then I do the work to get there. I started out writing BSS and OSS code for internet service providers, moved to Norway and into architecture, and over twenty years have gone from building systems myself to leading technology across several countries.

One idea runs through all of it. Build a capability once, put it on a shared platform, and reuse it instead of rebuilding it in every product, market or asset. I did that with integration and ERP at Telenor, turned it into a company-wide platform strategy as CTO of Orange Business, and it is now at the core of my work leading technology and architecture at Aker BP.

A vision is only worth something if it gets built. I built Statkraft's enterprise architecture function from nothing, and a delivery team of around 120 people in Pakistan that delivered the global ERP Telenor had tried to deliver for years. I live in Oslo and build international teams.

Platforms

Turning fragmented products and systems into shared platforms that every product, market or asset can use.

AI-native operations

Invisible OSS, NetDevOps with AI inside the loop, and the data foundation AI needs before it can do anything useful.

Sovereign cloud

Cloud and sovereignty strategy for companies that have to know where their data runs and who controls it.

Technology leadership

Building architecture and engineering organisations from nothing, and what AI does to the CTO role.

Early, more than once

Doing it before it was the normal thing to do.

  1. 2014

A mobile operator with no shops

Everything a customer did went through the website, CRM and billing my small team built, years before digital-first was the norm.

  2. 2016

    Live TV you could play

A prime-time game show where viewers at home played the same games as the contestants on their phones, in real time.

  3. 2017 to 2022

Cloud before it was the safe choice

About 90% of Telenor's shared services applications moved to cloud and SaaS, one of the group's first large migrations.

  4. 2023

Generative AI in an energy company

Brought Azure OpenAI and data products into Statkraft while most of the industry was still watching.

  5. 2024 to 2026

An AI-first platform for a telco

One platform through which every B2B product is sold and managed, so a telecom customer gets the experience they expect from a hyperscaler.

  6. 2025 to now

From invisible OSS to AI-native operations

Networks that understand intent, NetDevOps with AI inside the loop, and platforms where every asset or product reuses what was built once.
